# Delete your *account.*

You can delete your Perthro account and everything in it at any time. In the app it takes about a minute, and it happens straight away.

## In the app {#in-app}

1. Open Perthro and go to the **You** tab.
2. Tap the **gear icon** to open Settings.
3. Tap **Account & profile**, then **Delete account** under Danger zone.
4. Type **DELETE** (or your username) and tap **Delete forever**.
5. Enter the 6-digit code we email you. Your account is deleted immediately.

The emailed code proves it's really you, so someone holding your phone or a stolen session can't delete your account. No email on your account? Add one first in Settings → Account & profile → Sign-in & security.

## Without the app {#by-email}

Uninstalled Perthro, or can't sign in? Email [contact@rune.art](mailto:contact@rune.art?subject=Account%20deletion%20request) from the address on your account, and include your username if you know it. We'll confirm the request is yours and delete the account within 30 days.

You can also write to Rune Art ltd., addressed to "Privacy Officer · Account Deletion".

## What gets deleted {#deleted}

- Your profile: username, bio, avatar and banner images
- Every log, rating and review
- Your library, backlog, games you're interested in, and lists
- Your follows, likes and comments
- Your connected Steam, Xbox and PlayStation accounts
- Everything else linked to your account

## When it's gone {#when}

- **Right away:** Deleting in the app removes your account and everything above from Perthro immediately. It can't be undone.
- **Within 30 days:** Requests made by email or post are completed.
- **Within a further 60 days:** Remaining backup copies are purged.

A few records are kept for a limited time, no longer linked to your account: records of emails we sent you, reports about content, anything the law requires us to keep, and anonymous statistics that can't identify you. The details are in our [Privacy Policy](/privacy#retention).

## Before you go {#before}

- **Keep a copy.** Settings → Account & profile → Your data → **Download my data** saves everything as a JSON file. Do this first; after deletion there's nothing left to export.
- **Cancel your subscription.** Deleting your account doesn't cancel Perthro Pro or Hero, because Apple bills them. Cancel in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Perthro. See the [Subscription Terms](/subscription-terms#cancel).
